How can I be assured that my data is secure with a SaaS provider?
Security is of utmost importance to MIRUS and to you. Data is
protected through a 7-step process:
1.
Incoming sales data from your POS is encrypted at the network
connector prior to being sent over the Internet or to MIRUS.
2.
If a store loses the connection
to the Internet or the MIRUS data center, MIRUS
Connect stores the data for up to 10 days, allowing
for no data loss. Further, our data center maintains data
and backup for periods of up to 5 years in our standard
contract.
3.
A sophisticated ID and password system is in place for accessing
data.
4.
All reports are encrypted over the Internet before they can
be viewed.
5.
Each customer has a separate database.
6.
The servers are maintained with industry-leading firewalls.
7.
Data is stored at our operations
center which is equipped with 24/7 backup power, high
security access, and redundant lines.
When choosing SaaS, reliability and security should top the
list of requirements. SaaS solutions offering 24/7 uptime should provide
a "fault-tolerant" site including:
Network and data redundancy to protect against single points
of failure.
Disaster protection mechanisms (e.g. smoke and heat detectors
and sprinkler system).
Uninterruptible power supplies to protect against power surges
and outages.
What happens if my SaaS provider goes out of business?
You can protect yourself by selecting a SaaS provider that meets the checklist
of requirements shown above (see earlier question).
In the event that your SaaS provider does
go out of business, you can transfer your applications to another
SaaS provider or directly to the software or application partners.
